AC Filter Replacement: Breathe Easier

AC filter replacement across Los Angeles — stop recirculating dust, pollen, smoke particles and pet dander. Better airflow, lower energy bills, easier breathing.

Every breath of indoor air cycles through your AC system — and the filter is the only thing standing between that air and everything floating in it: dust, pollen, pet dander, smoke particles. When it saturates, two bad things happen at once: it stops capturing new particles, and airflow through the system collapses.

Three months apart: the filter on the right is what your family has been breathing through.

LA makes it worse

Los Angeles air carries a particular load: seasonal smog, year-round traffic particulates, heavy spring pollen, and wildfire smoke — ultra-fine PM2.5 particles that penetrate deep into lungs. During fire season, filters that normally last three months can load up in weeks. Noticed more congestion or a "stuffy house" feeling after a smoke event? Check the filter first.

Vent registers collect their own dust layer — replacing the filter without cleaning the vents is half the job.

What a clogged filter costs

  • Air quality — the system recirculates what it can no longer trap, spreading allergens to every room.

  • Money — restricted airflow makes the system run longer for the same temperature.

  • Equipment — starved airflow strains the blower and can ice the coils, turning a $20 filter into a four-figure repair.

What Bobbi does

  • Every filter, checked — return vents, unit filters, and the ones behind grilles nobody remembers.

  • The right replacement — matched to your system and household (pets and allergies change what you should run).

  • Vents & registers cleaned — the dust layer gets pulled, not just the filter swapped.

  • Measured — our air quality readings show the before-and-after in particle counts.

Every 1–3 months is the rule — nobody remembers, which is why it's built into Bobbi's recurring plans.

Which filter should you actually buy?

Filters carry a MERV rating — how fine a particle they capture. Higher isn't automatically better: a very high-MERV filter in a system not designed for it chokes airflow just like a dirty one. For most LA homes, MERV 8–11 is the sweet spot; allergy households and wildfire-prone months justify MERV 13 if the system can handle it. This is exactly what we assess in a filter consultation — the right filter for your system, not the most expensive one on the shelf.

Common questions

Can I just get my AC filters replaced with Bobbi?

No — Bobbi isn't an à la carte service, and that's on purpose. We clean all seven of the utilities that impact your health — AC filters & vents, washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, mattress, air purifier and garbage disposal — as one package, every visit. Filters are the biggest lever on your air — but the vents they feed, the purifier in the bedroom and the dust reservoirs like your mattress decide what you actually breathe. We're a health-first home wellness service, not a one-off filter company — and cleaning everything together is what makes your air-quality report actually mean something.

How often should AC filters be changed in Los Angeles?

Every 1–3 months. LA's smog, pollen and fire seasons push most homes toward the shorter end — and during active wildfire smoke, check monthly at minimum. Pets and allergies also shorten the interval.

Do dirty AC filters really affect health?

A saturated filter stops trapping dust, pollen, dander and smoke particles, so the system recirculates them through every room. For allergy and asthma households the difference between a fresh and clogged filter is often noticeable within days.

Does Bobbi bring the replacement filters?

Yes — we check every filter in the home, bring correct-size replacements, and track the schedule across visits so filters are always fresh. It's part of every Bobbi plan, from $295/month.

What if I don't even know where my filters are?

Totally normal — most homes have filters the owners have never seen, tucked behind return vents and inside units. Finding every one is literally part of the job: we locate them, replace them with the right sizes, and track the schedule so you never think about it again.

Or let Bobbi handle it — and prove it worked

Bobbi isn't a traditional cleaning company. We only clean the seven things in your home that impact your health — and every visit ends with a before-and-after air quality report, so you see the difference in real numbers, not promises. Filter checks and replacement are part of every Bobbi visit — we track the schedule so you don't have to.
